Roots and Wings essential oil blends were originally formulated and created by Young Living Founder D. Gary Young. Their formulas were later discovered among his stacks of old notebooks by Mary Young, who decided to produce them as commemorative blends for the 2022 U.S. & Canada Convention. I am thrilled that the collection of oils ROOTS and WINGS is available in Asia at the moment – they both contain SACRED FRANKINCENSE. It is by far a true blessing to have this oil as it only grows in Oman! D. Gary Young created a lasting relationship with the Oman people and their government to allow this oil to come to us. Gary Young was a true pioneer in the field of essential oils. His work has changed modern medicine.
Young Living Essential Oils owns no property in Oman, since it is currently illegal for non-citizens to own land there intended for business purposes. Young Living’s Dhofar Frankincense Research Plant (DFRP) leases 2 acres of land in Salalah, where it distills Boswellia sacra (Sacred Frankincense) for Young Living under the direction of the President of DFRP, Mahmoud Suhail, MD.
Young Living contracts with local Omani harvesters to secure our supply of Boswellia sacra resin. As a liaison for Gary and Mary Young, Dr. Suhail is in constant contact with the Oman Ministry of Agriculture about the health of the country’s Boswellia sacra frankincense trees and the Ministry’s actions to increase the forestation of those trees.
The Omani Department of Agriculture currently has over 200,000 Boswellia sacra frankincense trees started in its greenhouses in Salalah, Oman, that will be the beginning of a long-term, frankincense reforestation project. Dr. Suhail is also working closely with the Ministry on the production quantities each year of Boswellia sacra resin.
