What is Cleansing & Why is it Important?

When we talk about “cleansing”, we are referring to assisting the body in ridding itself of toxins. Toxins accumulate in the body daily, and the accumulation over a period of time is what actually causes disease – both acute and chronic. By the time we begin to notice that an organ is not functioning optimally, the situation has been going on for quite a while.

Does it make a difference which organ I focus upon cleansing first?

YES, it does make a difference how we go about cleansing!
It is most effective when we go about it in steps.
(Much of this information comes from the Essential Oils Desk Reference, 4th edition pages 299-322.)

Years ago I learned that we need to remember “CBS” – CLEANSE, BALANCE, SUPPORT.

This is what we have found to be effective . . .

  • Hydrate
  • Salt Flush
  • 5-Day Nutritive Cleanse
  • Support with NingXia Red
  • Specific organ cleanses

Water is the crucial ingredient in our body’s self-cleansing system. Most of us are aware of the body’s “normal” elimination processes, but we “forget” about the fact that water is necessary for every process that our body carries out.

A wonderful habit to cultivate is drinking 1 litre of water with 5 drops LEMON essential oils first thing every morning. Lemon will assist the body in attaining a less acidic pH after the night time fast and the resulting dehydration that we all face every morning.

If you are not a “water drinker”, then this is going to sound like a huge amount of liquid to consume! However, you might begin by drinking 250ml (about 8oz) with 5 drops lemon for the first two days. Then increase the amount every two days until you are drinking the entire litre (or quart).

(NOTE: You may also find that the water “wakes up the colon” and gets the cleansing process started.)

I use my empty NingXia Red bottles so I know exactly how much water I am drinking. Every morning I fill 3 of them to make sure I do not skimp on the water. (It is also wonderful for SKIN!!!)

After you are successfully drinking 1 litre water with 5 drops lemon essential oil every morning, you are ready for the second step…

Basic recipe:

  • 1 litre water
  • 5 drops LEMON essential oil (sound familiar???)
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) Mineral Salt (I like Himalayan Salt best)

Shake bottle and drink first thing in the morning.
Do not eat or drink anything until you have had at least one bowel movement.

The first movement may be “normal”. However, the 2 or 3 or 4 that follow will be like water as the salt water moves all the way through your digestive tract. Be sure you have ready access to a toilet and that you do not have on clothing that is complicated to remove! I usually like to allow 3 hours from the time I drink the salt water until I have to leave the house – just for safety!

(NOTE: The Salt Flush may not appropriate for those with high blood pressure or for those with kidney disease. Check with your health care professional.)

The Salt Flush can be done for three consecutive mornings. If you are really serious about cleansing, then you may choose to do it for up to 1 week. However, I generally find that three mornings at the beginning and then 1-2 mornings a week is sufficient.

Take 1 capsule Life 5 in the morning and 1 capsule Life 5 at night while on the Salt Flush.

This pro-biotic is a very important part of this cleansing flush.

Gary Young likes to say, “Comfortone gets everything moving, and ICP is the broom!” In other words, Comfortone will soften the matter that has built up on the inside walls of the colon. Essentialzyme assists in better digesting the food. ICP is the fiber which actually absorbs the toxins in the intestines so they can be eliminated.

Everyone is different, but the general guidelines are as follow:

  • Take Essentialzyme just prior to or with each meal. Begin this routine 3 days before beginning Comfortone.
  • Take 2 capsules Comfortone in the morning and 2 capsules before bedtime. Increase the number of capsules by one each day until everything is moving smoothly. If loose stools should occur, drop back on the number, but continue taking Comfortone.
  • Begin with ½ teaspoon (2.5ml) ICP in 200ml water before bed. After 2 days, add 1 teaspoon (2.5ml) ICP in water in the morning. After two days, increase the amount of ICP by ½ teaspoon morning or evening.

It is very important to balance the amounts of Comfortone and ICP according to YOUR needs. Remember, we are all different, and what is best for one person may be quite different for another!
